Pam Howard, APRN, Diabetes Nurse Clinician at Norwalk Hospital, will discuss an overview of diabetes.  Through public education she hopes to promote diabetes awareness. Increased  knowledge and understanding of the disease will promote self-management, and help people achieve optimal control over their blood sugar levels and prevent the acute and chronic complications of diabetes.s

                              

Reading Food Labels

Tamara Swett, a Registered Dietitian and Nutritionist at Norwalk Hospital, will talk about "Reading Food Labels."  She will explain what to look for when reading food labels while shopping so that people can make better choices to improve their nutrition. Reading food labels can help people live healthier lives and can be a positive step in fighting obesity.                                 
 
Transition into Menopause
Monday, June 21st

  Dr. Thomas V. Ayoub will present a program on the "Transition into Menopause."    He will discuss the physical and psychological impact of menopause, which usually affects women age 40 and beyond.  He will also answer questions from the audience. Dr. Ayoub, an obstetrician and gynecologist with Women's Healthcare of New England, has a "Certificate of Added Qualification" as a Menopause Clinician. 
                                          
Gastric Reflux

  Dr. Seth A. Gross is a Gastroenterolgist and an expert in the treatment of digestive diseases.He will discuss "Gastric Reflux and other Digestive Disorders" such as frequent heartburn or acid indigestion which are very common.  Dr. Gross will discuss the causes, symptoms, and treatments of these conditions and will allow time to answer questions from the audience.
