Aquatics
This program is designed for children ages 3 to 5. This is a child's first experience in the pool without parental assistance. The children are taught the basic skills that are the building blocks of swimming. They also learn about pool safety and the use of personal flotation devices if needed. The 45-minute class is taught by caring YMCA swim lesson instructors. Class participants are divided into skill levels and the class size is set forth in order for the instructor to provide children with individual attention.

The preschool swim program has four levels of swim; all determined by ability and experience of the three to five year old:

Pike
Non-swimmer/beginner, bubbles used if necessary
Children begin attending classes without their parents. This level helps children develop safe pool behavior, adjust to the water, and develop independent movement in the water. It is designed for new swimmers, teaching basic paddle stroke and kicking skills, pool safety and comfort in the water while blowing bubbles and swimming.
